FoliMesh

Rocks for Unreal Engine

Seven rocks — Pebbles, Stone, Boulder, Rock Slab, Rock Scatter, Cliff and Cliff with Boulders — ship as FBX, OBJ and GLB. Unreal Engine 5 reads all three through Interchange, so an FBX containing LOD meshes brings its LOD0–LOD3 chain in with a single import; further levels can still be added in the Static Mesh Editor. Collision is included, and UCX_-named meshes arrive as convex collision.

Instanced placement fits Foliage Mode and the PCG framework, so low-poly pebble fields and realistic cliffs both stay light across a landscape. Masked, two-sided materials handle the moss on slabs and boulders, Nanite supports them from UE 5.1, and the classic LOD chain still covers mobile. New seed, new variation; pivots sit at the base for fast stacking.

Using it in Unreal Engine

Unreal Engine 5 imports FBX, OBJ and glTF/GLB (through the Interchange framework).

  • LODs: enable Import Mesh LODs for an FBX that contains LOD meshes, or add LOD1–LOD3 later in the Static Mesh Editor via LOD Import.
  • Custom collision: FBX meshes named UCX_<MeshName> are imported as convex collision.
  • Leaf materials: Blend Mode Masked, Two Sided, and the Two Sided Foliage shading model for light passing through leaves.
  • Place trees with Foliage Mode or the PCG framework; foliage is rendered as instanced static meshes.
  • Nanite supports masked materials since UE 5.1. Keep the classic LODs for mobile and other non-Nanite targets.
