About OBJ

Wavefront OBJ

OBJ is a simple, widely supported text format for polygon meshes. Materials live in a separate .mtl file and textures in image files; there is no animation.

About glTF

GL Transmission Format 2.0

glTF is the JSON flavour of glTF 2.0. The scene description lives in the .gltf file, while geometry sits in a .bin file and textures in images — select them all together.

How it works

  1. 01

Drop the .obj file (with its textures or .bin/.mtl files, if any).

  2. 02

Check the model in the 3D preview; glTF is already selected.

  3. 03

Click “Convert” and the .gltf file downloads.

Questions

Is the OBJ to glTF converter free?+

Yes, without limits, sign-up or watermark.

Is my OBJ file uploaded?+

No. The OBJ file is read and converted in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.

Why are textures missing after converting OBJ?+

Textures stored as separate files must be selected together with the model. glTF keeps them only if the format supports textures.
